| Just after 10 PM on Friday, Downingtown Fire Department was dispatched to Ashbridge Manor in East Caln Township for a report of an automatic fire alarm activation. Assistant 46 went en route and shortly after initial dispatch, Chester County Fire Radio alerted Assistant 46 that they were getting reports of a couch on fire in one of the apartments on the 3rd floor and that the assignment was being upgraded to a building fire. Assistant 46 requested Station 6 for the full company and an engine out of Station 47.
Engine 46-1, Ambulance 46-1, and Tower 45 were the first units to respond and were followed out of station shortly afterwards by Engine 46-2, Air 46, and Squad 46.
Upon arrival, the interior crew was met with heavy smoke with a small fire on a chair being contained by a sprinkler that had been activated. The crew extinguished the fire and ventilated the apartment. A crew from Tower 45 was outside the window with the tower bucket and assisted the engine crew inside.
Minquas EMS and assist fire companies assisted in evaluation of all residents to make sure no one was hurt. Fortunately, there were no injuries of any residents or to the occupants of the affected apartment. Crews assisted the Fire Marshals with lighting as they investigated the fire.
Crews cleared from the incident at around 12:30 AM.
