By Minquas Fire Company No. 2
December 6, 2024

Downingtown Fire Department and Downingtown Borough representatives are currently at Pierce Manufacturing in the cold Appleton, Wisconsin. The goal for this trip is to provide the final inspection of the borough’s (2) identical engines. The first engine will be housed at the Alert Fire Company No.1, replacing the current 1998 Spartan/R.D. Murray Pumper, Engine 45. The second Engine will be housed at the Minquas Fire Company No.2, replacing the current 1994 Spartan/Saulsbury, Engine 46-1.

The new Engines are 2024 Pierce Enforcers with:
• Cummins L9, 450hp Engines
• 1750 Waterous Pumps
• 750-gallon tanks

Any questions on the apparatus specifications can be directed to the Alert Fire Company No.1 Assistant Chief, Jeff Trego, and Minquas Fire Company No.2 Assistant Chief, Stephen L. Miller.

The Downingtown Fire Department would like to thank the Borough of Downingtown Council, Borough Manager, and East Caln Township Supervisors for making this project come to fruition. Special thanks to our Sales Representative, Curt Woerth, and the entire Glick Fire Equipment family for assisting us with the process from start to finish.

Orders were placed in May of 2022 and should arrive in the Borough before the end of the year. Once they arrive all current fire apparatus operators will complete a training program that includes drive time and pump time. After training is complete and all equipment is mounted both engines will be placed in service.
