The Downingtown Fire Department had a busy Sunday. The day started with Engine 46-2 and Engine 45 (Alert Fire Company No.1) attending Public Safety Day in Johnsontown Park. This was a good opportunity for members of the community to learn more about the equipment, apparatus, and gear we use on a daily basis. Crews explained the gear we use for firefighting and water rescues along with our self contained breathing apparatus. While at the event, we were dispatched to an auto accident with possible entrapment. We responded with Engine 45 and the accident was determined to be property damage and no services were needed.

Later in the evening Engine 46-2 and Engine 45 responded to a fire alarm at Woodmont North Apartments. Upon arrival it was determined the fire alarm was activated due to burnt food on the stove. Crews ventilated the building and reset the alarm. As we were clearing from this call, we were dispatched to Maclanes Auto Service for another fire alarm. Both Engine 46-2 and Engine 45 made the response and it was determined it was an accidental activation and no services were needed.

Thank you to everyone who visited us at Public Safety Day in Johnsontown Park. Our crews had a great time meeting with members of our community.
