HAZMAT Response at Downingtown Sewage Treatment Plant

At 4:30am Minquas Fire Company No. 2 with Alert Fire Co. No. 1 and Chester County Haz-Mat Team were dispatched for a chlorine leak at the Downingtown Sewage Treatment Plant. Engine 46-2 and Air 46 made the response along with Rescue 45, Squad 45, and Haz-Mat 15-1 and 15-2.

Roads were shutdown in the immediate area by both the Downingtown Fire Police and Downingtown Police Department. Comm-1 provided onsite assistance from the Chester County Department of Emergency Services.

Lionville Fire Company, East Brandywine Fire Company, and Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute provided assistance during the incident.

Crews operated for just over 6 hours. We thank everyone for their response and support.
