By Minquas Fire Company No. 2
April 25, 2019

At 1:28pm, MFC was dispatched for an engine to assist Station 6 (Exton) at a house fire on Spruce Drive in West Whiteland. Chief 6 (K. Miller) was advised by Chester County Fireboard of multiple calls reporting an attached garage fire, and police were on location confirming a working fire. A "working fire dispatch" was requested, dispatching Air 46 as well on the assignment. Several chief officers arrived onscene and advised the first in engine to secure a water supply at the nearby hydrant, leave room in the driveway for the ladder truck, and deploy a handline to the front door of the house. Engine 6-2 (Exton) arrived first, fullfilling the initial orders, as Ladder 6 set up in the driveway. Engine 46-2's crew arrived shortly behind Station 6's units, and were advised to deploy a second handline to back up the first crew to prepare to make entry into the house. The bulk of the fire was found to be contained to the garage due to the main door being closed, with moderate heat and smoke damage throughout the rest of the house. Air 46 set up nearby to fill SCBA bottles, while multiple companies performed ventilation and overhaul. Chester County Fire Marshals began their investigation, as fire units were released by command.

Final MFC units cleared at 3:03pm.
