This evening around 2030 hours, the Downingtown Fire Dept. was alerted for a building fire at the Downingtown Area School District STEM Academy. Initial reports advised of smoke and flames from the side of the building. Assistant 46 was first on location and advised of a fire in a classroom. The working fire dispatch was requested which brought multiple agencies and resources. Engine 46-1 was the first arriving engine and hit the hydrant in front of the building and stretched a line. Once inside, crews advised of fire in the chemistry lab. With that report, command requested the Chester County Hazmat Team. Good Fellowship Ambulance also responded and provided rehab for all. Crews remained on-scene for an extended period of time until the investigation was completed. A big thank you to all that responded or helped out in any way. The help is much appreciated.
