House Struck By Lightning

As a system of very strong thunderstorms moved through the area this evening, multiple sky to ground lightning strikes occurred. Tower 45 advised Chester County Fire Radio to dispatch Downingtown Fire Department to a residence across the street from Station 45 for a possible dwelling fire at a house struck by lightning. Crews from Station 46 were already on station participating in a training night evolution and heard the call from the Tower. Station 46 responded with both engines right after dispatch, with the Air/Light following shortly afterwards. LT 45A advised the first in Engine 46-1 to lay in from the hydrant and to pull a line. Crews from 46, 45, and 38 (who had firefighters training at Station 45 at the time of the incident) worked side by side with roof, interior, and exterior operations to mitigate the situation quickly.

Thank you to Ambulance 41-1, Tower 47, and Engine 5-3 for covering the Borough for the duration of the incident.
