Beginning at 18:00hrs on Friday, February 5, 2010 and extending thru Sunday, February 7 until 18:00hrs crews from the Minquas Fire Company #2 manned the station around the clock. Squad 46 was equipped for the snow with a full compliment of shovels and even a snow blower attached to the back which came in very handy when the crew was alerted around 02:00 Sunday morning for a 200' untouched driveway in Uwchlan Township which ems crews needed to gain access to get to the patient. The crews set up a sleeping area in the meeting room and was able to use the social hall, which was closed due to the weather, as a make shift lounge. The newly formed ladies auxiliary was on hand to make the members two breakfasts and a dinner which was appreciated by all. While on stations, crews took shifts shoveling, salting, and maintain our walkways and ramp as best as they could. Thank you to Millers Automotive and Downingtown Borough for keeping our lot clear throughout the duration of the snow event. After the 48 hour shift, which, many members were on station the entire time; crews were released but soon returned for a gas leak outside at Woodmont North Apartments. All in all, 7 ems assist calls and 2 fire calls were answered and several special assignments were fulfilled. Thank you for everyone's dedication to this company and to the surrounding municipalities in which we cover. We are all fortunate to have such a professional pool of members to give up entire weekends to make sure our communities are covered. Thank you to all who were involved. They will be on station and ready for round #2 on Tuesday night!
