On Sunday, January 17, 2010 Station 46 ran three seperate calls in the span of 3 hours.
The first call for the Downingtown Fire Department came in the late morning for an automatic fire alarm at the Norwood House Apartments. Engine 46-1 made the response with a full crew of 6. Upon arrival Deputy 45 advised Engine 46-1's crew to go into service with a positive pressure ventilation fan. During that time the crew also checked the apartment where the smoke was coming from. It was determined to be burnt food. Before clearing crews assisted Tower 45's crew with silencing and reseting the fire alarm. All units were in service for about 30 minutes and cleared from scene per Deputy 45.
After Engine 46-1 returned to station the Downingtown Fire Department was dispatched again for an automatic fire alarm at the Devereux Day School. Engine 46-1 made the quick response and were advised by Chief 46 to check the building for any smoke conditions resulting from cooking and to reset alarm. No other services were required and all units cleared the scene shortly after.
The last call of the day was disptached at noon to assist Ambulance 46-2 with forcible entry to enable the ambulance crew to get to the patient inside their house. Engine 46-2 made the response along with Rescue 45. While enroute, units were advised the patient was able to unlock the door enabling the ambulance crew to gain access inside and all units proceeded in at a reduced rate. Crews then assisted the ambulance crew with patient care.
