| Minquas Fire Company was dispatched to 5 separate fire incidents over a 6 day period last week. Three of the fires were in Downingtown Fire Department's first due coverage area. A first due coverage area is the municipalities or parts of a municipality where a fire department is the primary responding agency to any emergency. Downingtown Fire Department's (Alert and Minquas) first due is Downingtown Borough and East Caln Township.
On the morning of March 5th at approximately 6:45am, Downingtown Fire Department was dispatched the 500 block of Trestle Place in East Caln for a trash fire. The fire department arrived to find a fire up the hill by the old railroad tracks. Crews extinguished the fire shortly afterward.
In the early morning hours of March 6th at approximately 1:45am, Downingtown Fire Department with an Engine from 1st West Chester Fire Company was dispatched to the 100 block of Green Street in Downingtown Borough for a house fire. The fire department arrived to find a small fire in a second window that had begun to burn into a second floor bedroom. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, minimizing damage to the residence. Special thanks to 1st West Chester Fire Company for standing by as Rapid Intervention Team (R.I.T.) and cover company while Downingtown Fire Department was operating at the fire.
In the early morning hours of March 7th at approximately 2:45am, Downingtown Fire Department was dispatched to the 200 block of Mary Street in Downingtown Borough for a house fire. The fire department arrived to find smoke coming from the roof and the incident was upgraded to the working fire meaning more fire companies are dispatched to assist. Station 38, Station 39, Ladder 41, and Rescue 47 were dispatched to assist Downingtown Fire Department. Downingtown firefighters found a fire in the bathroom on the second floor which had extended into a front bedroom. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and brought the fire under control, minimizing the damage to the residence. Thank you to assisting fire companies for assisting Downingtown with the fire. Neighboring fire companies were very gracious with assisting with overhauling the residence and getting the equipment and hose back onto the fire apparatus.
In the afternoon of March 8th at approximately 4:10pm, Minquas Fire Company was dispatched for an engine to assist Lionville Fire Company on a garage fire in the 400 block of Denford Way in Uwchlan Township. Engine 46-2 responded and arrived on scene at the same time as Engine 47-2. Firefighters encountered a fire that was burning approximately 2/3 of the residence upon arrival. Minquas Fire Company assisted Lionville with extinguishing the fire. Additional fire companies were dispatched to assist which brought Engine 46-1, Air 46, and Ambulance 46 into the scene. In the early morning of March 10th at approximately 4:50am, Minquas Fire Company was dispatched for Air 46 to assist Coatesville Fire Department on a house fire in the 500 block of Chestnut Street in Coatesville City. Air 46 responded and arrived on scene. Crews stood by for approximately an hour then cleared from the incident. |
