By Minquas Fire Company No. 2
February 27, 2012

On Saturday, February 25th and Sunday, February 26th members from the Downingtown Fire Department attended a Structural Burn Session at the West Chester Fire Training Center. This State Fire Academy class is taught by Chester County instructors that assist students in learning basic tactics to fire suppression, hose line management, RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) Operations and ladder operations. It is a 16 hour training course that combines both classroom and hands-on live fire training. Each member who completed the course received a State Fire Academy certificate that certifies them in all aspects of a live structural burn. Minquas members who attended and completed the class were:
Lieutenant Harvel Brown
Lieutenant Keith Whitely
Firefighter Bryan Baker
Firefighter Kenny Boyd
Firefighter Jeff Cole
Firefighter Lukas Jenkins
Firefighter Dennis Lamb
Firefighter Tommy Lee
Firefighter Joe McCarthy

Additionally on Sunday, during the live-fire evolutions, Minquas EMS provided rehab for both the class and instructors. Along with members from the Chester County EMT class, Minquas EMS members took vitals for everyone, provided the class with water, Gatorade, and light snacks using the newly acquired Rehab Unit. Everyone from the class would like to thank EMS Captain Glenn Heininger, Marc Ferry and all the members and students who helped ensure our health and well being during Sunday's evolutions.

Units: Engine 46-2, Air/Light 46, Ambulance 46-1, Rehab 46

Mutual Aid: Station 45
