Downingtown Fire Department (Stations 46 and 45) were dispatched to the 300 block of West Pennsylvania Ave for a report of a chimney fire. Additional information upon dispatch was red ambers and smoke from the chimney. Assistant 45 arrived on scene and reported smoke from the chimney. Engine 46-1 and Engine 46-2 responded out of station together. Station 46 provided water supply and fire suppression at the scene, while the crew from Tower 45 went to the roof and lowered chains down the chimney to dislodge any combustible materials on fire in the chimney. Firefighters checked for any extension of fire and heat into the second floor and attic but there were no signs of extension into the dwelling.
