Election for 2012 Line Officers Held

By Minquas Fire Company No. 2
December 11, 2011

This evening the active force attended an annual special meeting, which is held on the second Sunday of December at 7:00PM, to elect the line officers for the upcoming 2012 year. The positions are traditionally determined by a ballot vote. A committee assembled 1 month prior to the election determining which nominees were eligible to run in the election. Due to eligibility and candidate withdrawals only Fire Lieutenants A, B, and C were elected by a casting of ballots of the active force membership. The Assistant/Deputy Chief (Internally- Station Chief) and Fire Captain were elected by a ballot cast by the secretary due to their positions running unopposed. The EMS Captain nominee was appointed by the EMS Committee as the original only nomination was found to be not eligible. Since Glenn Heininger was the only member nominated by the EMS Committee for EMS Captain, a ballot was also cast by the secretary for this position.

The 2012 Fire/EMS Officers are as follows:

Assistant/Deputy Chief: Michael Miller
Fire Captain: Tim Swisher*
EMS Captain: Glenn Heininger
Fire Lieutenant A: Justin Kowalczyk*
Fire Lieutenant B: Harvel Brown**
Fire Lieutenant C: Keith Whitely

All of the elected officers will begin their one-year term on January 1, 2012.

The EMS Captain will appoint up to three lieutenants to serve under him for the 2012 year.

The Chief of the Downingtown Fire Department will determine if Minquas' internal Station Chief will be designated as Assistant or Deputy 46 with Chester County Fire Radio.

We would like to thank outgoing Assistant Chief Steve L. Miller for his service and outgoing Fire Lieutenant Jeff Cole for his service in the roll of lieutenant.

Good luck to all of the officers in the coming year!

*Re-elected position from 2011
**Re-elected from 2011 but moved up from Lt. C to Lt. B
